The transition to net zero isn’t on the horizon—it’s already reshaping how infrastructure is conceived, funded, and delivered.
We’re rolling out a nationwide network of large-scale green energy hubs to power the electrification of commercial transport—from HGV fleets to last-mile logistics. This is complex, capital-intensive infrastructure at the intersection of energy and mobility.
Now, we’re looking for a Senior QS ready to step up into a Commercial Manager role – someone who wants to move beyond project-level delivery and into a position where they can shape strategy, drive commercial outcomes, and influence how major programmes are delivered.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional QS role.
You’ll transition into a hands-on commercial leadership position, taking ownership of commercial strategy across a portfolio of technically complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
You’ll still stay close to the detail, but with a broader lens: balancing risk, driving value, and influencing key decisions at programme level.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own the commercial strategy across multiple projects or a major programme, moving from reactive QS work to proactive commercial leadership
- Lead on contract management and negotiation, primarily under NEC forms, ensuring robust commercial control and risk mitigation
- Drive cost strategy and value engineering, influencing design and delivery decisions to maximise value
- Shape procurement approaches and build strong, commercially sound supply chain relationships
- Act as a key commercial voice across delivery, design, and senior leadership teams
- Mentor and develop junior QSs, helping to build a high-performing commercial function
- Navigate complexity across civils, grid, energy, and charging infrastructure, bringing clarity and control
What We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for a Senior QS who’s ready to step up – someone who wants more ownership, more influence, and a bigger seat at the table.
You’ll likely bring
- A strong foundation in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management
- Proven experience working with NEC contracts (JCT knowledge a plus)
- A track record delivering infrastructure, energy, utilities, or major civils projects
- The ability to think commercially at a strategic level, not just project-by-project
- Confidence managing multiple stakeholders and complex programmes
- A genuine drive to progress into a leadership role
Why This Role Stands Out
- Step up, not sideways – a genuine pathway from Senior QS to Commercial Manager
- Strategic exposure – influence programme-level decisions, not just packages
- Purpose-driven work – directly contribute to decarbonising UK transport
- Complex, career-defining projects – energy + infrastructure at scale
- Growth environment – a business investing heavily in expansion and people
- Visible impact – your decisions will shape assets used nationwide
What’s On Offer
- Competitive salary
- Bonus up to 15%
- 5% pension
- Private medical, dental & life insurance
- Quarterly offsites
- Clear and supported career progression into senior commercial leadership
