Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Operations

The company is now seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing engineering operations within a complex electronics and assembly environment.
The Role
This position will lead the development and execution of manufacturing engineering strategy across PCB assembly and final product assembly operations. You will play a key role in driving operational performance, continuous improvement, new product introduction, and engineering capability across the site.
You will manage and develop a high‑performing engineering team while supporting production efficiency, quality, safety, and future manufacturing growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team across operations.
- Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support NPI activities and ensure manufacturability standards are achieved.
- Improve OEE, productivity, quality, and equipment performance.
- Oversee PFMEA, DFMEA, process controls, and manufacturing standards.
- Support investment planning for new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, and NPI teams.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and site SHE standards.
- Manage budgets, headcount planning, and engineering resource allocation.
- Optimise shop‑floor layouts and manufacturing flow.
Experience Required
- Degree qualified in Manufacturing, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar.
- Strong background within electronics manufacturing environments.
- Experience with surface‑mount and through‑hole assembly processes.
- Proven leadership experience within manufacturing engineering operations.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience with PFMEA, DFMEA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of SAP/MRP systems and MES platforms.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
