The Company
A leading global consulting group is seeking an Associate Director to join its globally regarded legal engineering practice. This is a senior role for an experienced legal or consulting professional who is motivated by purpose-led work, collaborative leadership and shaping the future of legal services through technology, people and process.
The role works closely with law firms and in-house legal teams, helping them redesign how legal services are delivered, improve efficiency and embed GenAI responsibly and sustainably.
Key Responsibilities of the Associate Director – Legal Engineer
- Lead legal transformation programmes – Oversee complex projects for law firms and in‑house legal teams, focusing on process redesign and implementation of AI‑enabled solutions. Deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, cost and service quality.
- Advise on GenAI adoption strategies – Provide strategic guidance on the use of GenAI and digital technologies, outlining opportunities, risks and practical implications for legal operations. Support clients in developing informed transformation roadmaps.
- Design and deploy AI solutions – Lead the development and implementation of GenAI‑enabled tools, including workflows, prompts and agent‑based solutions. Ensure robust quality assurance and alignment with client requirements.
- Drive delivery and change management – Manage multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget, while embedding change through training, communication and adoption strategies. Track performance using defined KPIs and success metrics.
- Develop client relationships and growth – Build senior stakeholder relationships and identify new business opportunities within legal engineering and wider services. Contribute to market propositions and represent the firm at industry events.
Skills & Attributes of the Associate Director – Legal Engineer
- Legal and consulting experience – Ideally a qualified lawyer with relevant post‑qualification experience and a strong understanding of legal processes. Able to translate legal requirements into technology‑enabled solutions.
- GenAI and technology expertise – Demonstrates practical experience with GenAI, large language models and legal technology platforms. Capable of designing and implementing AI‑driven solutions within legal environments.
- Programme and team leadership – Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, legal and data disciplines. Experienced in delivery management, agile methodologies and stakeholder coordination.
- Change and stakeholder management – Skilled in driving adoption of new technologies through structured change programmes. Communicates complex concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Analytical and professional capability – Strong data analysis, problem‑solving and organisational skills. Maintains high standards of accuracy, accountability and professionalism in all aspects of delivery.
