Setting the Standard Compliance Officer – Hybrid

Are you passionate about housing standards and compliance? Do you want to make a difference in the quality of temporary accommodation across local authorities? We are looking for a Setting the Standard Compliance Officer to join our team and support the delivery of the Setting the Standard (StS) programme. This role is ideal for someone with experience in Local Authority Private Sector Housing or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate housing compliance documents (e.g., Gas Safety, EPCs, NICIEC, Emergency Lighting, AFD).
  • Ensure documentation meets StS Standards and is suitable for validation.
  • Support HMO licensing compliance under the Housing Act 2004.
  • Manage the MHCLG PRS Database and verify uploads from multiple authorities.
  • Check and maintain accuracy of data uploaded to the StS Inspection Portal.
  • Communicate with accommodation providers, local authority housing teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with StS Inspection Officers and contribute to service development.

What We Are Looking For

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent.
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Understanding of housing legislation including the Housing Act 2004 and HMO licensing.
  • Willingness to undertake training to achieve a Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Regulatory Compliance in Housing.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and eager to learn.

Desirable

  • Experience in a Local Authority Private Sector Housing Team or similar.
  • Interest in progressing to an Inspection Officer role.
  • Familiarity with HHSRS (training support available).
