The opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Motor Fleet Underwriter to join our dynamic team, focusing on new business within Mid‑Market. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in underwriting motor fleet insurance policies, ensuring profitable growth and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients.

Key responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite motor fleet insurance risks in the mid‑market segment, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and company policies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to drive business growth and retention.
- Analyse market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for new business and product development.
- Provide technical underwriting expertise and guidance to junior underwriters and other team members.
- Collaborate with the sales and distribution teams to achieve business targets and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of underwriting documentation and policy issuance.
- Monitor and manage the performance of the motor fleet insurance portfolio, implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain profitability.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies and initiatives.
Qualifications and experience
- Extensive experience in motor fleet underwriting, preferably within the new business mid‑market segment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK insurance market and regulatory environment.
- Proven track record of achieving profitable growth and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and develop appropriate solutions.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results‑oriented approach.
- Professional qualifications such as ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) or equivalent are highly desirable.
