Job Overview

Are you a senior mental health professional, looking for an opportunity to develop your leadership skills in a recovery-focused educational setting? Do you want to contribute to the enhancement of recovery-focused practice in Integrated Neighbourhood Teams working? We are looking for a dynamic, motivated mental health professional leader to cover maternity leave for our Recovery & Wellbeing College Deputy Manager (Clinical Lead) for 12 months. This is a great opportunity to enhance our leadership skills, develop your recovery-focused practice and establish Recovery & Wellbeing College in Integrated Neighbourhood working across our Boroughs. The Recovery & Wellbeing College offers coproduced recovery-focused shared learning opportunities for residents and staff, bringing together our learned and lived experience equally.

Main duties of the job

The post will lead the operational running and service developments of the London CNWL Recovery & Wellbeing College along with the Recovery & Wellbeing College Deputy Manager (Lived Experience Lead) and Manager. This includes ensuring delivery of high-quality recovery education in partnership with our communities, ensuring fidelity to the Recovery College approach and role modelling the recovery principles (hope, control, opportunities) to our staff, students and partners. There will be an opportunity to work closely with the colleagues and stakeholders across CNWL to promote, develop and embed the principles of recovery-orientated practice across the organisation, as well as developing strong relationships with partner agencies and local communities. The post holder will act as an ambassador of Recovery & Wellbeing College for the Trust alongside others, and should aim to inspire others, challenge stigma and discrimination and promote recovery.

They will need to be able to work flexibly to manage the demands of a busy College undergoing transformation. Regular supervision including profession-specific with our Lived Experience Workforce will be provided.

The successful candidate will possess the leadership skills required to work alongside and empower colleagues to work to their optimum, have experience of group facilitation skills, presentation skills, and a positive attitude which can support the delivery of the new model of a community-based Recovery & Wellbeing College offer.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Recognised professional qualification (e.g. OT, Social Worker, RMN) with current registration with relevant professional body.
  • Evidence of on-going personal development in the fields of personal recovery and education.

Desirable criteria

  • Post qualification training.
  • Leadership training.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant post qualifying experience in mental health.
  • Worked in a recovery focused and socially inclusive manner, supporting people to live the life they want.
  • Experience of delivering recovery focussed training/presentations.
  • Experience of public speaking.
  • Provision of staff supervision, development and appraisal.
  • Leadership responsibilities.
  • Procedure, policy and service development.
  • Experience of managing or implementing a project.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in an educational/learning and development environment.
  • Experience of living with and/or supporting an individual with a long-term condition.

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Ability to treat service users with respect and dignity at all times, adopting a culturally sensitive approach, which considers the needs of the whole person.
  • Thorough knowledge of social inclusion and the principles of recovery and the social model of disability.
  • Commitment to, knowledge of and skills in coproduction.
  • Ability to draw on and use clinical/professional expertise with an educational framework.
  • Ability to challenge stigma, prejudice and discrimination.
  • Knowledge of legislation and policy pertaining to mental health including CPA and the personalisation agenda.
  • To work with and manage the complexity and sensitivity of leading a service underpinned by coproduction, with a large number of staff who bring lived experience to their role.
  • Understanding of National Standards/Guidelines relating to Recovery, Social Inclusion and the Social Model of Disability.
  • Ability to have carry out a range of practical tasks associated with running a service and a building i.e. managing the H&S environment etc.
  • A commitment to work within the Trust values, reflecting the diverse population we serve.

Desirable criteria

  • Ability to design Recovery Courses for groups and individual needs; ensuring best practice and national guidelines are adhered to.
