As we enter a new phase of expansion, we are looking for someone to join the R&D team, contributing to new product development and product improvement in a dynamic, high-growth environment, working from our modern, open-plan offices in Papworth with the option of hybrid working once established in the role.
Key Responsibilities
- New product development from conceptual to production design.
- Supporting existing products through problem solving and continual product improvement, by incorporating feedback from either internally or externally.
- Creating and maintaining technical design files, e.g. drawings, specifications and Bills Of Materials.
- Participating in testing and certifications for new products or markets.
Tasks
Product Development
- Understanding design requirements and establishing product specifications.
- Designing mechanical parts in 3D CAD models.
- Building and testing prototypes.
- Obtaining type approval for domestic and international markets.
- Coordinating product launch internally and externally.
- Supporting early installations of new products.
Product Improvement
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving for existing products.
- Customising existing products for new markets.
- Updating drawings, specifications and BOMs.
- Revising certification requirements.
- Collaboration with overseas manufacturing partners.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in mechanical engineering design (1 to 2 years).
- Bachelor or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject.
- Good understanding of product development process, with a minimum of 1 year design experience.
- Demonstrable industry experience in CAD modelling, preferably ProE/Creo and Windchill database management.
- Experience in building and roofing construction design will be desirable.
- Great attention to details.
- Time conscious and deadline oriented.
- Organised, accurate .
- Self-starting, showing initiative.
- Independent when necessary, but a good team player .
- Approachable, sociable .
- Mandarin speaker is a plus (or Bilingual (English/Mandarin) candidates are encouraged to apply).
