DDaT (ICT) Communications Senior Engineer

Responsibilities

As a Senior Engineer in the Communications Team, the successful candidate will:

• Support a resilient, secure and high‑performing network infrastructure that underpins critical operational and corporate services.
• Provide senior technical leadership and oversee day‑to‑day network operations.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure reliable network services.
• Drive continuous improvement by enhancing network performance, enabling secure connectivity and integration, and adopting modern networking technologies.
• Mentoring technical staff and maintaining an efficient, secure network environment.

Qualifications

Required:

• Strong technical and organisational skills, confident operating within a complex DDaT environment.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Hands‑on experience in enterprise network support and security.
• Proactive troubleshooting of complex issues.

Desirable:

• Welsh language skills.
• Experience mentoring technical staff.

Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential. Travel throughout South Wales, and occasional travel outside the Service area, will be required. The successful candidate will also be subject to satisfactory clearance checks.
