An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Proposals Engineer to join a well-established engineering business supplying specialist solutions to a wide range of sectors including energy, infrastructure, commercial construction, and manufacturing.
This role is ideal for a technically minded professional with experience in applications engineering, proposals, estimating, or technical sales within a mechanical engineering sector.
The Role
This is predominantly an office-based technical role focused on managing enquiries through to quotation stage. You will take ownership of the enquiry-to-quote process, working closely with engineering, design, and supply chain teams to develop compliant and commercially competitive solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing inbound enquiries from receipt through to quotation
- Reviewing customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements
- Producing technical proposals, estimates, and quotations
- Carrying out acoustic and ventilation calculations
- Developing initial concepts, hand sketches, and solution designs
- Collaborating with internal departments to deliver tailored solutions
- Building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers
- Maintaining accurate records using Salesforce CRM
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar applications, proposals, estimating, or technical sales role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience preparing technical quotations and proposals
- A background in engineering or manufacturing
- Strong technical and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings
- Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce
