About the Role
Spend is looking for an Engineering Manager to ship our first credit cards. You’ll lead a new core credit team within the squad, driving the initiative that enables Personal and Business customers to spend on credit from their Wise Account.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical roadmap, ensuring high standards and alignment with product and compliance teams.
- Develop and ship systems for credit decisioning, tracking borrowed credit, accruing interest, and repayment flows.
- Hire, coach, and mentor engineers, fostering growth and removing blockers to deliver high velocity while maintaining quality.
- Provide planning, release milestones, and realistic commitments; act as a key representative of the team across stakeholder groups.
- Collaborate closely with the Business, Spend, and Account squads to define the Wise Business spending experience.
Technical Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new solutions and drive initiatives from the ground up.
- Serve as a technical expert for the credit domain, guiding architecture, code reviews, and best practices.
- Ensure code quality, consistency, and maintainability through rigorous reviews.
- Build with the future in mind, creating platforms that can support other products.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers across seniority levels.
- Drive product roadmapping and strategy sessions with product management.
- Shape the team’s technical roadmaps in collaboration with Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and product.
- Navigate complex priorities, trade‑offs, and risk to unlock growth.
- Represent the team across the company, aligning with Business, Spend, and Account squads.

- Solid foundation in distributed systems and cloud architecture.
