Job Description:

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Radiologist to join our friendly and dynamic team at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

Qualifications

  • Full registration with the GMC with FRCR (or equivalent)
  • Eligible for inclusion on the GMC’s Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the date of interview

Key Responsibilities

  • General radiology commitment to include plain film reporting, ultrasound, MRI, and CT work, which will be timetabled.
  • Full‑time contract includes 1.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) for Supporting Professional Activities, and 1 PA for 7‑day working.
  • Participation in a two‑weekly radiologist rota with a 7‑day service commitment; flexible working around the 7‑day rota is expected.
  • Teaching responsibilities for Specialty trainees and clinical fellows in Radiology, including supervision of non‑radiology junior staff and allied health professionals.
  • Attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings (cancer and non‑cancer) relevant to the specialty and sector.
  • Participation in CPD, clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement projects as part of the Directorate Clinical Audit Programme.
  • Engagement in research and publications encouraged; limited funding for research projects may be available.

7‑Day Working

Successful candidates will join the existing 1 in 16 7‑day working rota, covering one evening every four weeks (5 pm–7 pm) and one weekend in 16 (Friday 5–7 pm, Saturday and Sunday 9 am–6 pm). An outside agency provides an on‑call service from 7 pm (6 pm at weekends); availability for additional on‑call service or major incident response may be required.

Teaching

Share in the training of Specialty trainees and clinical fellows in Radiology, including clinical and educational supervisory responsibilities as appropriate. Some teaching of non‑radiology junior staff and allied health professionals will also be expected.

Clinical Governance and Audit

Contribute to the Directorate Clinical Audit Programme and participate in quality improvement projects closely linked to the needs of Clinical Governance.

Research

Encouraged to get involved in research and publications; limited funding for research projects is available from time to time.
