Apply for the University Guarantor Officer
Location: Bath
Job Description:

Campus Services is looking for a University Guarantor Officer to play a key role in delivering and developing our in‑house Guarantor Scheme. This service provides essential support for eligible students seeking private rented housing and helps ensure they can secure suitable accommodation while the University maintains responsible financial oversight.

This is a part‑time position, working 18 hours over 4 days (4.5 hours per day).

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage the day‑to‑day operation of the Guarantor Scheme, ensuring applications are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Provide clear, accessible advice to students eligible for the University guarantor scheme, on their responsibilities, rights and obligations.
  • Offer early intervention support for students on the scheme at risk of rent arrears, working with Student Money Advice and other support services to ensure students receive financial guidance and hardship support where needed.
  • Liaise with landlords and letting agents validating tenancy and compliance documentation and supporting positive, solution‑focused communication.
  • Monitor financial exposure, track arrears, and contribute operational data to support forecasting, reporting and wider accommodation planning.
  • Ensure all processes comply with relevant housing legislation, consumer protection standards, and data governance requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements, maintaining guidance materials, and contributing to training and system testing.
  • Collaborate with teams across the University, particularly those supporting estranged students, care‑experienced learners and students from refugee/asylum‑seeking backgrounds, to ensure they receive joined‑up, person‑centred support.

About You

We’re looking for someone with solid experience in student support, housing, customer service or a similar administrative environment, who is confident interpreting tenancy documents and navigating key private‑rental processes. You’ll be highly organised, able to stay calm under pressure, and skilled at prioritising during busy periods, all while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail. Clear, confident communication is essential, as you’ll work closely with students, landlords and colleagues, translating complex information into clear, accessible guidance.

While not essential, it would be an advantage if you bring knowledge of housing legislation, guarantor responsibilities, consumer rights, or experience within higher education or accommodation services. An understanding of compliance, risk monitoring, financial processes or service‑improvement work would also be highly valued.
