Position Summary

The successful applicant will join Cardiff University as a Research and Development Post Graduate Engineer or Scientist (KTP Associate). The post is funded through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme and is designed to transfer knowledge from the University research team to Natural Resources Wales. The KTP Associate will be primarily based at Natural Resources Wales, working closely with staff in both organisations and acting as a conduit between these two Wales‑based partners.

Responsibilities

  • Co‑design and deploy a monitoring sensor network to quantify the hydrological and hydraulic impacts of NFM at a live test site.
  • Apply flood modelling tools and techniques to identify and evaluate realistic NFM opportunities.
  • Conduct economic assessments to capture the full value and co‑benefits of NFM measures.
  • Develop a roadmap to support organisational transformation within the public sector.

Employment Details

This two‑year full‑time (37 hours per week) fixed‑term post provides an opportunity to develop technical and operational management skills while contributing directly to the future of sustainable, nature‑based flood risk management in Wales.

Salary and Benefits
