About The Role

We are looking to recruit an Electrical Technician to work in Northumbrian Water’s Maintenance team. The role is based at the Howdon, Tyne and Wear facility and will involve travel to sites across Northumberland and Tyneside. The position is permanent, with 37 core hours per week and a pay range from £35,785 per year plus overtime and standby (OTE of £6,000 in overtime, standby and callout payments). You will be a fully mobile worker and will be provided with a van and a fuel card.

The role requires participation in an out‑of‑hours standby rota. We will provide relevant training and experience to undertake this. Additional payments are made for standby, callouts and any additional hours worked.

At Northumbrian Water Group we offer a diverse range of equipment and a unique prospect to specialise in areas such as PLCs, telemetry, level control and variable speed drives. You will use your expertise in fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance to improve plant availability.

About You

You will be a time‑served Electrical Technician educated to at least ONC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. You will have a maintenance background in reactive breakdowns and planned work, and you will manage your time efficiently with minimal supervision. You will be experienced in reading and diagnosing faults from electrical drawings, identifying the source and replacing faulty components.

We are looking for candidates with a can‑do attitude, a willingness to learn and a hands‑on practical approach. A keen eye for identifying root causes whilst investigating problems and implementing solutions is essential. You’ll have excellent communication skills and be a team player. A strong health and safety ethic is important for our Everyone Home Safe Everyday culture.

A full UK manual driving licence is essential for this role.

You may have the potential to receive payment for up to four technical modules ( £1,500 per module per year ) with an expectation that each technician will achieve a minimum of two modules within three years.
