Are you an early-career product professional with experience in a commercial, marketing, or technical environment, ready to take real ownership of a product portfolio?

Do you have a curious, analytical mindset and the ability to translate data and customer insight into practical product decisions?

Are you comfortable working cross-functionally across R&D, Sales, Supply Chain, and Marketing to bring products to market and manage their lifecycle?

MacGregor Black are partnering with a well-established consumer goods manufacturer on the search for a Junior Product Manager. This is a permanent, hybrid role based in the North East.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their product career to take genuine ownership of a selection of newer brands, supporting the full end-to-end product lifecycle across a paint, cleaners and abrasives portfolio.

Working closely with R&D, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain, you will help shape products that meet market needs while upholding high standards of quality, sustainability, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define product requirements based on customer insights, market data, and competitor analysis.
  • Collaborate with R&D to support formulation updates and new product innovation.
  • Work with international supply partners to source products.
  • Support lifecycle activities including product refreshes, discontinuations, and SKU rationalisation.
  • Act as internal point of contact for product-related queries.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and market research, monitoring trends to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Gather and synthesise customer feedback from sales teams, retailers, and end users.
  • Support the development of business cases for new product opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on product positioning, packaging briefs, label copy, and promotional content.
  • Assist in coordinating product launches across cross-functional teams.
  • Support pricing and margin analysis alongside Finance and Sales.
  • Ensure accurate product setup across internal systems and customer portals.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Manufacturing on forecasting and demand planning.
  • Assist with quality issue investigations and regulatory compliance as legislation evolves.
  • Prepare reports covering sales, margin, and product mix with recommended improvement actions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A graduate with a minimum of 2 years’ workplace experience in a product management, marketing, commercial, or technical role.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work confidently with data tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Proactive, organised, and detail-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A customer-centric mindset and genuine curiosity about products and markets.
  • Comfortable working across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a branded or manufacturing environment is desirable, as is exposure to European or international markets.
