Buildings Surveyor

6 months (multiple extensions likely)

£30.41 per hour (Inside IR35)

Glascoed (South Wales)

**Inspections experience critical** 2-3 years experience

The position will report directly into the site Contracts Manager within the estates and facilities management team. Supporting the operation, repairs, maintenance and new works of site infrastructure and services, including for the development, renovation and maintenance, and delivery of legally compliant work pertaining to site land and buildings, utilities and services.

Responsible for ensuring that all site buildings are inspected, creation of detailed building condition surveys and maintenance plans. Preparing technical reports, specifications and feasibility studies to support the evolving needs of current and future facility needs. Producing accurate and optimised maintenance work packages using maintenance management toolsets, ensuring consistency through standardised processes and strong engineering governance.

  • Manage, schedule and carry out detailed building condition surveys, to enable the preparation of drawings (CAD), work schedules, specifications, contract and tender documentation and quotations for works.

  • Assess the suitability of properties for minor and major adaptations on the site estate, and to determine and oversee the implementation of the most appropriate adaptation.

  • Supporting project delivery and contract administration work, Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules and maintaining records of these and other statutory maintenance inspections, in conjunction with the sites Mechanical and Electrical Utilities Engineering Managers, Manufacturing Group Equipment Engineering Lead Engineers, the Infrastructure Engineers and Capital Investment project team.

  • Work within the allocated budgets for land & buildings repairs and maintenance and carry out maintenance activities in an efficient and cost effective manner.

  • Promoting Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) requirements within the Contractor Management department and wider contractor community, in accordance with Site SHE Policy.

  • Essential: –
  • Experience within commercial/industrial sector environments.
  • HNC or HND‑level education in an Engineering discipline, or have equivalent relevant working experience
  • Practised knowledge of building and CDM Regulations.

  • Desirable: –
  • Experience managing contractors.
  • Practised experience in relation to Health and Safety, H&S member i.e. IOSH/SMSTS.
  • Member, or working towards membership in related Professional Engineering Institution.
  • Working in a defence related industry background.
