Role overview
To take ownership of the multi-scope diving operations programme – managing five independent but contractually unified scopes of work from project engineering through to offshore execution oversight – ensuring safe, on-schedule, and compliant delivery of all diving activities on the client’s producing asset.
Reporting line: You will report to the Subsea Operations Manager and interface on a daily basis with engineering, marine, logistics, and HSE teams, as well as the diving contractor throughout the campaign.
Key responsibilities
Project engineering & scope management
- Take ownership of all five diving scopes of work, managing them as a single integrated programme under one contracting and governance framework
- Develop and maintain the overall project schedule, tracking progress across all five scopes and identifying interdependencies and critical path items
- Drive the preparation and review of diving engineering documentation: scope of work, method statements, diving procedures, and technical specifications
- Manage interfaces between the five scopes and with other engineering disciplines: marine, structural, logistics, and HSE
Contractor management & tender follow-up
- Take over management of the diving contractor once the contract is in place – acting as the primary technical interface throughout engineering and operations phases
- Review and approve contractor deliverables: diving procedures, risk assessments, mobilisation plans, and execution documentation
- Track contractor performance and manage any technical or commercial deviations in coordination with the client team
UWILD & class approval coordination
- Lead the engineering coordination of the UWILD scope for RINA class approval – managing documentation, survey coordination, and class society interfaces
- Ensure all class-related deliverables are produced and submitted on schedule to support the November 2026 operations start
Reporting & stakeholder management
- Provide weekly progress reports to the Subsea Operations Manager covering all five scopes: schedule status, key risks, open actions, and contractor performance
- Interface effectively with a broad range of stakeholders: engineers, marine team, logistics, HSE, and the diving contractor
- Escalate issues and risks proactively, with proposed mitigations, before they impact the programme
Key deliverables
- Integrated project schedule maintained across all five diving scopes, updated weekly
- Diving engineering documentation reviewed and approved on schedule ahead of the November 2026 operations start
- UWILD documentation package completed and submitted to RINA for class approval
- Contractor deliverables reviewed and all technical deviations managed within agreed timescales
- Weekly progress reports delivered to the Subsea Operations Manager covering all scopes
Education
- Engineering degree in mechanical, subsea, naval, or related offshore engineering discipline
Experience
Must-have:
- Proven experience as Project Engineer or Lead Engineer on diving operations programmes – air diving in an offshore or nearshore environment
- Experience managing multi-scope diving projects: scope of work development, contractor management, and execution oversight
- Solid understanding of air diving operations: procedures, risk management, and HSE requirements
- Experience with UWILD scopes and class society coordination (RINA, Bureau Veritas, DNV, or equivalent)
- Strong reporting discipline – proven ability to produce accurate weekly programme reporting for senior management
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with calm buoy operations: mooring chains, floating offloading hose, or overboarding valve scopes
- Familiarity with seawater intake or hull inspection scopes on producing FPSOs or offshore installations
- Previous experience on West African or Mediterranean offshore assets
Soft skills
- Proactive and pragmatic – able to take ownership of an ongoing programme and drive it forward independently from day one
- Strong interpersonal skills – comfortable interfacing across engineering, marine, logistics, and HSE teams as well as external contractors
- Highly organised with strong reporting discipline – weekly reporting is a formal requirement of the role
- Fluent English – mandatory
