Job Summary

The CBSO, in partnership with Ikon Gallery, is searching for a Head of Facilities & Operations. This exciting new role will work directly for the CBSO, and via a Service Level Agreement for Ikon Gallery, overseeing and developing facilities & operations at two busy Birmingham cultural buildings.

Job Description

The candidate will have a strong sense of leadership and an energy for problem solving, working with the executive managements and staff of both organisations to operate a Facilities & Operations Team that will excel in a dual‑location context. A keen understanding of operational planning, health and safety and customer service, combined with people and budget management skills, is essential.

Job Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in Buildings / Venue Management.
• Experience in managing and negotiating contracts with vendors, suppliers, and external hirers.
• Computer literacy: familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software fundamental to the CBSO.
• Organised and reliable with excellent attention to detail and good time‑keeping skills.
• Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks within a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to keep up to date with the latest statutory requirements and best practice.
• Good communication skills and willingness to foster interdepartmental relationships.
• Enthusiasm for orchestral music and the arts and culture sector in the West Midlands.
