Full-time 40 hours, Flexibility required across shift patterns (06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00)

Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager to play a key leadership role within our outbound function. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day execution of outbound warehouse activities, ensuring the efficient picking, packing, and dispatch of customer orders.

This role requires strong operational leadership, with accountability for performance, people management, process optimisation, and compliance. You will drive operational excellence, ensuring that customer expectations and service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

Outbound Operations Leadership

  • Take full ownership of outbound operations, including picking, packing, and dispatch, ensuring all orders are fulfilled accurately and within customer SLAs.
  • Oversee carrier allocation and dispatch processes to guarantee timely and cost‑effective deliveries.
  • Act as the senior operational lead during shifts, managing escalations and ensuring business continuity.

Operational Efficiency & Planning

  • Design, implement, and monitor processes to improve outbound efficiency, productivity, and throughput.
  • Optimise labour planning and resource allocation in line with volume forecasts and peak trading periods.
  • Work cross‑functionally with inbound, logistics, and planning teams to ensure end‑to‑end operational alignment.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on key outbound KPIs, including productivity, accuracy, and service levels.
  • Use data insights to identify trends, address performance gaps, and drive informed decision‑making.
  • Provide regular operational updates and reporting to senior leadership.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to safe working practices and maintaining a clean, organised warehouse environment.
  • Proactively address any risks or non‑compliance issues.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance, reduce cost, and improve customer experience.
  • Drive innovation within the outbound function, including process enhancements and adoption of new ways of working.
  • Support wider business transformation projects and operational change initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changes and tackle challenges efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A Diploma in Warehouse Operations or Supply Chain Management would be desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Time management and organisation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using warehouse software and Microsoft Office.
