Server Infrastructure Manager

We are looking for an experienced Server Infrastructure Manager to join the Digital Services team. This role supports a complex data‑centre environment, virtualisation platforms, Windows Server infrastructure, enterprise storage, backup & recovery solutions, Active Directory and disaster recovery. You will work closely with Trust teams and suppliers to keep infrastructure services secure, resilient and highly available while contributing to improvement projects and the modernisation of the Digital estate.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day management, support and continuous improvement of the Trust’s server and data‑centre infrastructure.
  • Support infrastructure projects, technical upgrades, disaster recovery activities, monitoring, incident resolution and change management processes.
  • Work with Digital teams, suppliers and operational services to troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage risks and deliver infrastructure improvements.
  • Support cyber security, resilience and compliance activities, including Cyber Essentials Plus and DSPT.
  • Work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute to technical standards, documentation and service improvement initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota.

Qualifications

  • Successfully planned and delivered complex IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience managing change in an IT environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex IT technical issues within ICT infrastructures.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure and systems within an NHS setting.
  • Educated to Degree level in an IT related subject or with at least 5 years of IT Server support experience.
  • Industry standard ICT qualifications such as CAN, CNE, MCP, MCSE, CompTIA or equivalent, or relevant experience.
  • Professional qualification in IT (e.g., MCSA, CompTIA A+).
  • Knowledge of ITIL v3 concepts.
  • Understand that the Trust is unable to provide sponsorship to work for this role, and employment on a time‑limited visa does not guarantee sponsorship at expiry.
