Position Overview

This is a fixed‑term (12 months) Senior Clinical Fellow post in Neonatology with a subspecialty interest, based at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. Positions are equivalent to ST5 or above and/or RCPCH NTN Grid training in Neonatal Medicine, starting 5th August 2026 with an end date of 3rd August 2027 (start date negotiable up to 19th August).

Shift Pattern & Workload

Full shift pattern. Middle grade rota second‑on duties in Neonatology, supported by experienced ANNPs and Consultant Neonatologists. Approximately 20% of time (one week per month) dedicated to the chosen subspecialty area without clinical duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide second‑on duties in Neonatology on the middle grade rota.
  • Deliver clinical care in neonatal haemodynamics, neonatal surgery/gastroenterology & nutrition, neonatal respiratory medicine, and quality improvement.
  • Engage in subspecialty training, dedicating 20% of time to the chosen area.
  • Support post‑hospital clinical pathways and multidisciplinary team activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Senior Clinical Fellow or equivalent with subspecialty interest in Neonatology.
  • Evidence of training equivalent to ST5 or above and/or RCPCH NTN Grid training in Neonatal Medicine.
  • Completed UK Foundation Programme within 3.5 years of the advertised start date, or ability to provide a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST).
