We welcome applications from experienced qualified staff and those seeking a Preceptorship role (starting at a Band 7, working toward the 8a post over an 18 month period).

Interviews for this role will be held on Monday 8th June 2026. The post holder will work as a senior member of the Haringey Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT), part of North London Foundation Trust (NLFT). The CRHTT provides intensive, home‑based crisis assessment, treatment and support as an alternative to hospital admission, ensuring rapid and effective crisis responses for residents in Haringey.

In this role, the psychologist will contribute to the delivery, development and continuous improvement of the therapeutic offer within the crisis pathway. A core aspect of the post involves strengthening trauma‑informed practice, enhancing team culture, and supporting psychologically safe, consistent and effective responses to high‑pressure and emotionally complex clinical presentations. The post holder will work closely with clinicians to embed systematic, trauma‑informed models across the HTT and wider acute care system.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The postholder ensures the systematic delivery of a high‑quality, trauma‑informed specialist psychology service within the acute care pathway. Their work includes psychological assessments, brief evidence‑based interventions, collaborative formulations, reflective practice, and consultation to the multidisciplinary team (MDT). The role also supports smooth transitions between crisis, inpatient, and community services, ensuring that the voices and relational needs of families and carers remain central.

Person specification

Qualifications/Registrations

  • Doctoral level training in clinical/counselling psychology
  • Eligibility for Chartered Status with BPS
  • Registered with HCPC as a psychologist
  • Pre/Post qualification training in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology
  • Trained in other therapeutic modalities such as EMDR

Skills/Abilities

  • Skill in use of complex psychological assessment, formulation and intervention
  • Competency in neuropsychological assessment
  • Skills in providing consultation
  • Model-based formulation skills
  • High level theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience within the NHS of full range care setting
  • Experience of working with a variety of client groups, across the whole life-span
  • Experience of working as a fully integrated MD team member
  • Experience of risk management
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Experience of conducting research and disseminating/implementing findings
  • experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural context
  • Experience of running a range of groups/workshops/courses for service users with psychosis and their carers
  • Experience of supporting reflective practice and post incident support
  • Experience and knowledge of the Trauma Informed Care framework in clinical settings
  • Experience of working in Acute settings

Personal Qualities and Other requirements

  • An enthusiasm and commitment to the psychological treatment of those in the acute care pathway
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with service users and carers
  • Contain and work with organisational stress and ‘hold’ the stress of others
  • Personal experience of mental health
  • Experience of working within a multicultural framework
  • Interest is service development
