Job Overview

Medical Information Officer – EPR

Fixed Term / Secondment till 31st December 2027 – Part time 16 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Medical Information Officer to play a central role in advancing our digital clinical transformation agenda and supporting the successful implementation and optimisation of our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinically credible leader who is passionate about improving patient care through high‑quality digital solutions, data integrity and innovative clinical informatics.

Main duties of the job:

As a Medical Information Officer, you will act as a vital link between clinical teams, digital workstreams and the wider EPR Programme. You will champion the adoption of digital clinical workflows, ensure that system design aligns with real‑world clinical practice, and promote high standards of clinical documentation and data quality. The role will also contribute to the development of robust data governance frameworks and support the safe, effective and compliant use of digital systems across the organisation.

You will drive digital transformation initiatives that enhance usability, interoperability and clinician engagement, while identifying opportunities for innovation, including the use of AI and clinical decision‑support tools. A key part of the role will involve supporting training and education to build digital capability and confidence among clinical teams.

Qualifications

  • GMC registration and licence to practice.
  • Significant clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Desirable criteria:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Health Informatics, Digital Health, or related field.
  • Training in clinical safety (e.g., DCB0129/0160 compliance).

Experience

  • Proven track record of clinical leadership or involvement in service improvement.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and digital clinical systems.

Desirable criteria:

  • Participation in digital transformation projects or system implementation.
  • Experience in data analytics or clinical decision support tools.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of clinical workflows and patient safety principles.
  • Awareness of NHS Digital standards, GDPR, and data governance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable criteria:

  • Knowledge of interoperability standards (FHIR, SNOMED CT).
  • Familiarity with AI and emerging digital health technologies.
  • Project management skills.
  • Training and education delivery experience.
