Job Overview

The Beacon is LPT’s purpose-built CAMHS inpatient unit for young people aged 13–18 who need specialist support during crisis or complex mental health presentations. Located on the Glenfield Hospital site, it provides a safe, calm, therapeutic environment with ensuite bedrooms, sensory rooms, therapy spaces and landscaped outdoor areas. An on-site school, run by the Children’s Hospital School, ensures education continues during admission.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to young people experiencing acute mental health needs, including assessments, care planning, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, teachers and support staff to deliver holistic, person‑centred care.
  • Help maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, support de‑escalation, respond to risk and uphold safeguarding standards.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and ensure accurate, timely documentation in line with professional and Trust requirements.
  • Supervise junior staff and students, and engage in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
  • Work 24/7 on a rotational basis, including day and night shifts, weekends and bank holidays.

Employment Terms
