Role Responsibilities and Duties for Commissioning Engineer

  • Commission and configure door entry systems, access control systems, and associated security solutions coupled with Life Safety
  • Perform system testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Ensure all systems are installed and commissioned in line with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Work closely with installation teams, project managers, and clients during project delivery.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support where required.
  • Deliver system training and handover documentation to clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities and system configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
  • Adhoc duties as required

Qualifications & Experience Required for a Commissioning Engineer

  • 5+ years practical experience
  • Experience with CCTV and intruder alarm systems and fire alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and structured cabling.
  • Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer or similar role in the security systems industry.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with:
    • Door entry systems (audio/video intercoms)
    • Door access control systems (keypads, fobs, biometric systems)
    • Knowledge of system integration, including networking (IP‑based systems).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Familiarity with leading access control and door entry manufacturers (e.g., Urmet, Paxton, Hikvision, BPT, Videx, Comelit).
  • Understanding of wiring standards and electrical principles.
  • Strong communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Proficient user of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Detail‑orientated approach

Salary: Up to £50 DOE
