Role Responsibilities and Duties for Commissioning Engineer
- Commission and configure door entry systems, access control systems, and associated security solutions coupled with Life Safety
- Perform system testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Ensure all systems are installed and commissioned in line with industry standards and client requirements.
- Work closely with installation teams, project managers, and clients during project delivery.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support where required.
- Deliver system training and handover documentation to clients.
- Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities and system configurations.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
- Adhoc duties as required
Qualifications & Experience Required for a Commissioning Engineer
- 5+ years practical experience
- Experience with CCTV and intruder alarm systems and fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and structured cabling.
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer or similar role in the security systems industry.
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- Door entry systems (audio/video intercoms)
- Door access control systems (keypads, fobs, biometric systems)
- Knowledge of system integration, including networking (IP‑based systems).
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with leading access control and door entry manufacturers (e.g., Urmet, Paxton, Hikvision, BPT, Videx, Comelit).
- Understanding of wiring standards and electrical principles.
- Strong communication and customer‑facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence
- Proficient user of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Detail‑orientated approach
