Workshop Manager, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk (Permanent position)
To oversee and optimise the maintenance operations of all equipment and products at the Great Yarmouth global hub. Foster a proactive and positive work environment, ensuring a culture of excellence and accountability and lead the team with a “can-do” attitude, driving efficiency and innovation to achieve operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Leadership and Maintenance: Oversee the planned and preventative maintenance of all equipment, ensuring zero breakdowns through hands‑on leadership. Strive for the highest standards of mechanical reliability and aesthetic appearance.
- Inventory and Load Out: Take overall responsibility for the accurate and timely load out of inventory as per project design proposals and load out lists. Coordinate with certifying authorities for equipment release.
- Equipment Refurbishment: Develop and implement plans to refurbish equipment that does not meet mechanical or presentation standards. Ensure all equipment is certified and available to customers, arranging recertification as needed.
- Technician Coaching: Mentor and coach technicians, sharing your skills and knowledge to support their development and your career progression.
- Reporting and Documentation: Complete and maintain all necessary Integrated Management System reports as required by company procedures for maintenance planning and task completion.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all hoses, ancillary equipment, and calibration tools are maintained according to job requirements and company procedures.
- Quality Control: Oversee the service records and paperwork completed by technicians.
- Safety and Meetings: Manage daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings, ensuring thorough documentation and implementation.
- Culture and Work Ethic: Foster a positive work culture as outlined in the job description. Be prepared to work overtime and weekends to meet deadlines.
- Team Management: Oversee the general management of the workshop team.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection: Ensure all activities prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved, protect the environment, and prevent pollution.
- Quality and Professionalism: Perform all work to the highest standards of quality and professionalism, adhering to the company’s integrated management system.
- Training and Development: Identify personal training needs, communicate them to the departmental manager, and take advantage of available training opportunities.
Skills & Experience
- Good offshore field experience in well testing or equipment operation.
- Supervisory Skills: Proven ability to lead a team of mechanics/operators to maximize performance and output. Preferred ability to delegate tasks effectively to achieve necessary goals.
- Task Management: Capable of handling a variety of tasks and priorities in line with business requirements.
You will need
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent mechanical/electrical qualification, a strong background in diesel engines.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
