LaunchPad Statistician – Contract (Outside IR35)

Location: Glasgow / Hybrid (home working with occasional on-site)

Duration: 12 months

Lorien are supporting a public sector organisation in Scotland to recruit a LaunchPad Statistician to support a portfolio of high-impact innovation projects across healthcare settings.

This role sits at the intersection of data, innovation and healthcare transformation, contributing to the design, delivery and evaluation of data-driven solutions that improve patient outcomes, service efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Role Overview

You will work across a range of projects, providing expert statistical input throughout the full lifecycle – from design and analysis planning through to delivery, reporting and dissemination.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including clinical leads, project managers and digital specialists, you will analyse complex, real-world healthcare datasets and translate findings into meaningful insights to support decision-making.

The role involves working within secure environments such as Trusted Research Environments (TREs), using routinely collected healthcare data which may include gaps, inconsistencies or variability typical of real-world datasets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver robust statistical analysis plans aligned to project objectives
  • Analyse complex healthcare datasets, including linked and routinely collected data
  • Support evaluation of digital health technologies, service redesign and transformation programmes
  • Ensure all outputs are accurate, reproducible and compliant with governance frameworks
  • Translate complex statistical findings into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
  • Contribute to reporting, publications, presentations and stakeholder updates
  • Adhere to data governance, information governance and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or similar
  • Experience working with NHS Scotland Health Boards
  • Strong experience working with NHS datasets
  • Proven track record delivering statistical analysis across multiple projects or programmes
  • Experience producing analysis plans, reports, dashboards or publications
  • Experience with data linkage and working within Trusted Research Environments
  • Evidence of continued professional development in health data science or project methodologies
  • Knowledge of AI/ML approaches and their application in healthcare
