In return, we are looking for people like you – people who are innovative, driven and committed to serving and improving Nottingham. If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of those who live and work in our city, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

The Major Projects team provides a professional project and programme management service across Nottingham City Council, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard that enhances the reputation of both the Council and the city. The team also plays a key role in embedding project and programme management skills across the organisation.

We are seeking four Assistant Project Managers to support the development and delivery of a wide range of projects. The role involves assisting Programme Managers within the fields of Education, Transport, Regeneration and Leisure.

Supporting the achievement of agreed project outcomes you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards whilst managing risk, whether working independently on smaller projects or as part of a larger project team.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your existing project management skills whilst you are responsible for complex projects that make a real difference to the city.

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience relevant to:

  • Assisting in managing the project scope, budget, timeline and risks and reporting variances.
  • Assisting in coordinating cross‑functional communication across disciplines within the project team.
  • Anticipating problems before they happen and suggesting ways to reach project goals and reporting to the programme manager.
  • Reporting to the Programme Manager any discrepancies in the legal, statutory and other relevant provisions governing or affecting the projects they are managing within Major Projects.
  • Assisting in project reviews and quality assurance procedures.
  • Reviewing and suggesting action on individual project risks.

At Nottingham City Council we believe that work is what you do, not where you do it. We offer different working arrangements, depending on the role, including hybrid working. Further information on Worker Types and what these mean in terms of how and where you work can be found on the additional information for applicants page.
