About the role

We’re looking for a confident, caring and experienced Room Supervisor to join our team at Sunny Days.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll take responsibility for your designated room, ensuring every child is safe, supported, and thriving in line with the EYFS. You’ll be a role model

to your colleagues, offering guidance, mentoring, and day-to-day support while creating an environment that’s active, engaging, and fun.

In the absence of the deputy manager, you may also assist the manager in running the nursery, and occasionally take full responsibility for short periods when both are absent.

It’s a big responsibility – but you won’t be doing it alone. Our supportive leadership team, clear policies, and well-resourced nursery mean you’ll always have the structure and backing you need to do your best work.

Knowledge & Experience

  • A full and relevant Level 3 qualification (minimum)
  • At least 2 years’ post-qualifying experience
  • Confident knowledge of safeguarding and EYFS
  • Flexibility to work a rota between 7am–6pm, Mon–Fri (and beyond 6pm in emergencies)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance

What you’ll be doing

As Room Supervisor, your days will be varied and rewarding. You’ll:

  • Lead the daily running of your room, making sure routines, activities and learning opportunities meet EYFS requirements and Sunny Days’ high standards.
  • Guide and support your team – ensuring everyone knows their role, feels valued, and has the mentoring or coaching they need to develop.
  • Plan engaging, age-appropriate experiences and keep clear records of children’s learning and progress.
  • Be a key person for a small group of children, building strong relationships with them and their families.
  • Work closely with parents and, where needed, outside agencies to support children’s wellbeing and development.
  • Keep the room safe, clean and welcoming, with toys and resources ready for curious hands.
  • Ensure ratios, policies and safeguarding requirements are met at all times.
  • Take part in reviews, training and professional development, and encourage your team to do the same.
  • Step up to assist the Manager or Deputy when required, and occasionally take full responsibility in their absence.
  • Always show kindness, respect and professionalism.
