The Opportunity

As the Business Manager to the COO, you will report directly to our Chief Operating Officer.

You will support the COO and COO Senior Leadership Team to deliver operational service excellence through management reporting and risk & control monitoring activities and overall facilitate the smooth functioning of the COO Office.

This is a hybrid role based in our Swindon office, with the requirement to be in the office 3 days a week.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Oversight of operational risk and controls to ensure COO teams deliver safe outcomes within the appropriate risk appetite and risk framework.
  • Design and deliver meaningful MI and reporting to support COO and team to deliver against performance metrics.
  • Ensure effective plans, processes and controls are in place for the day‑to‑day operations.
  • Drive cultural change through operational engagement and continuous improvement activities based on customer and colleague feedback.
  • Assist with SLT meetings – manage the scheduling of such meetings, as well as the actions that result.
  • Manage the COO risk forum, including relevant activities.
  • Manage substantive meetings and forums, and follow up on actions from boards and steering committees.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders within COO and the broader business.
  • Manage, monitor and update COO KPIs and scorecards.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Experience supporting C‑level executives.
  • Experience managing and influencing business quality.
  • Experience writing board and executive papers.
  • Ability to carry out financial modelling and understand and interpret financial information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, videoconferencing platforms, and document management tools.
  • Previous exposure to board governance and regulatory environments is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential materials and information with professionalism.
