Main duties of the job

Full‑time Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant with specialist interest in fertility and ambulatory gynaecology. Clinical sessions at Worcestershire Royal Hospital (WRH), Alexandra Hospital Redditch (AR) and Kidderminster Treatment Centre (KTC), with additional clinics at community hospitals.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide clinical service to patients of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and to General Practitioners.
  • Attend multi‑disciplinary meetings and work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality care.
  • Assist the A&E department and acute medicine to ensure timely appropriate care and patient flow.
  • Attend cross‑county and cross‑site meetings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver a high‑quality, timely service and work towards meeting Trust and departmental objectives.
  • Participate in on‑call rota to ensure emergency and urgent services are provided outside normal hours, shared with other consultants.
  • Attend hospital sites to review patients when clinically necessary.
  • During weekend on‑call duties, review patients at hospital sites.

Management and Administrative Experience

Essential

  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
  • Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialist service
  • Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities
  • Ability to manage and lead the specialty firm and multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of audit management and conducting clinical audit

Desirable

  • Ability to manage and lead specialist unit and working parties as appropriate
  • Ability to use evidence‑based clinical audit to support decision making

Teaching Experience

Essential

  • Ability to teach clinical skills to medical, nursing staff and other disciplines
  • Experience of teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates

Desirable

  • Ability to supervise postgraduate research

  • Ability to meet travel requirements of the job and return to the hospital within 30 minutes when on call

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCT in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • Demonstrated expertise in ambulatory and outpatient gynaecology, including:
    • One‑stop clinics and rapid access pathways
    • Outpatient hysteroscopy and diagnostic procedures
  • Proven experience in infertility and reproductive medicine, including:
    • Assessment and management of subfertility
    • Fertility investigations and treatment pathways
  • Ability to contribute to:
    • Emergency gynaecology service
    • On‑call rota, including acute O&G care

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration: Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • Specialist registration: Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or expected within 6 months of interview date) via:
    • CCT
    • CESR
    • European Economic Area (EEA) / European Community rights
  • Additional qualifications:
    • ATSM/SITM in Subfertility and Reproductive Health or a relevant postgraduate qualification
    • ATSM in hysteroscopy or benign gynaecology
