Role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom. The Antimicrobial Pharmacist role is based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) and will support the GGC Antimicrobial Stewardship agenda.

About the Position

To be considered for this post you must hold a General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team providing an advanced clinical service, managing patients with confirmed or suspected infections and supporting the outpatient antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) service.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

  • Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH)
  • Shift pattern: Mondays and Fridays (part‑time pro‑rata). Flexible working is considered.
  • Weekend, public holiday and on‑call rotas are required.
  • Salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours.
  • Fixed term or secondment for one year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical antimicrobial advice and promote antimicrobial stewardship within GGC.
  • Contribute to antimicrobial governance.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate antimicrobial guidelines.
  • Participate proactively in antimicrobial ward rounds.
  • Provide clinical support to the GGC OPAT service.
  • Engage in meetings such as the GGC Antimicrobial Utilisation Committee.
  • Develop and deliver teaching on antimicrobials to junior doctors, pharmacists and nurses.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must hold an MPharm degree (or equivalent), be registered with the GPhC and have or be working towards an independent prescribing qualification. The QEUH/ GGC AMP team will provide training, support and mentorship.
