Essential Requirements
- Current valid UK driving licence.
- Degree level education in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction or equivalent learning.
- Full corporate membership of CABE, RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional institution with a significant Building Control element.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high‑performing building control team in Bolton.
- Ensure all building work complies with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Shape building control excellence, fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Maintain the highest standards of building safety, compliance and sustainability across Bolton.
- Provide strategic direction, decision‑making and performance appraisals.
- Represent the council to stakeholders including elected members, external agencies and service users.
About You
- Significant experience managing building control functions within a local authority setting.
- Strong management expertise with experience developing staff skills and performance.
- Ability to lead in strategic and hands‑on capacity.
- Strategic approach to leadership, continuous improvement, compliance and service excellence.
- Strong commitment to customer service and building relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience presenting technical issues in clear terms to non‑technical audiences and influencing senior stakeholders.
