Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality clinical care within the Integrated Healthcare Service for the prison, including acute & primary care, long term conditions management, enhanced assessment and diagnostic intervention services and health promotion activities in line with NHS Plan, public health indicators and National Service Frameworks.
- Provide a pro‑active, evidence‑based nursing practice that ensures quality and outcomes on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Support the development of evidence‑based practice in the specialist field and promote research as appropriate.
- Participate in managerial and professional clinical supervision programmes, ensuring junior staff receive appropriate documentation (right to work in the UK) and a Home Office Share code.
- Engage in supervision, training and annual appraisal to ensure it becomes an integral part of team practice.
- Work the 24/7 service shift pattern: 3 × 12.5‑hour shifts per week for 3 weeks, 4 × 12.5‑hour shifts on the 4th week, with one shift protected for training; 2 weekends every 6‑week roster and 3‑night shifts every 12‑week roster (2 per annum on weekends).
Qualifications
- High degree of personal and professional autonomy with strong decision‑making skills.
- Robust expert clinical skills and sound understanding of evidence‑based nursing practice.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
- Willingness to undertake National Security Vetting.
- Proof of identity (photographic ID), address documentation and a Home Office Share code.
