Overview
Fellowship in spinal surgery at a leading children’s hospital, encompassing outpatient clinics, ward rounds, theatre exposure, and research activities.
Responsibilities
- Attend spinal outpatient clinics and neuromuscular combined spinal clinics.
- Lead daily spinal ward rounds and coordinate aftercare of spinal patients, delegating appropriately.
- Perform operations under supervision, achieving independent competency, and carry out investigative procedures.
- Participate in theatre work minimum two whole days per week, with opportunities for additional sessions.
- Provide senior trainee level cover.
- Complete allocated clinical fellowship duties including research time for presentations and publications.
Qualifications
- Completion of orthopaedic or neurosurgical residency.
- Experience in complex spinal reconstruction and/or paediatric spinal deformity (scoliosis, kyphosis).
- Capability to work at a senior trainee level.
Duration & Placement
Fellowship commences August 2026 for 12 months full time at Alder Hey, with a possible further 12 months at the Walton Centre.
