Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic psychologist or psychotherapist interested in a personally rewarding and fulfilling role working with complex cases. Your work will be across the Acute Care pathway at Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke, which includes a male ward, a female ward, a 6‑bed MOD ward and a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
You will join a team of supportive, innovative, creative and compassionate clinicians committed to trauma‑informed care and a psychologically‑minded multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture that supports the recovery of adults with acute mental health difficulties.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing psychological therapy to clients within the Acute and Crisis Division, which is staffed by practitioner psychologists and psychological therapists with expertise in CBT, DBT, ACT, CFT and CAT. Your duties will include:
- Delivering individual psychological assessments and formulations
- Providing brief interventions and ongoing therapy
- Supporting group programmes and offering consultation and training to staff in the team
- Supervising junior staff and advising colleagues
- Implementing the Comprehend, Cope & Connect (CCC) approach to support multidisciplinary colleagues and enhance a psychologically‑informed culture across the wards
- Participating in collaborative care planning and contributing to service development through research skills
- Engaging in quality improvement, co‑production, further training and career development activities
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants seeking preceptorship from Band 7 to 8a are encouraged to apply. We also welcome applications from unqualified practitioners who are nearing completion of their training.
