Managing Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering
As part of its continued growth and a strong pipeline of successful tenders, a major construction contractor is seeking to appoint an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding commercial team, working on high‑profile civil engineering projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a privately owned contractor with ambitious long‑term growth plans. You will become one of four Managing Quantity Surveyors reporting directly to the Commercial Director, with genuine opportunities to progress into a Commercial Manager position as the business continues to expand.
The company delivers technically challenging heavy civil engineering schemes across Earthworks, Highways, Rail infrastructure projects and other civil engineering works.

The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will lead commercial activities on civil engineering projects valued between £10m and £50m.
- Leading and mentoring Quantity Surveying teams
- Full post‑contract commercial management
- Subcontract procurement and management
- Cost, value, and change reporting
- Managing compensation events and contractual change
- Attending and leading client meetings
- Supporting commercial strategy and project delivery
- Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and contractual requirements
Requirements
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor on projects valued at £10m+
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
- Experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, highways, rail, or earthworks projects
- Excellent commercial management and stakeholder engagement skills
