Responsibilities

  • Design and specify control systems, safety and electrical components for industrial automation systems.
  • Create electrical schematics and designs within AutoCAD Electrical including layout diagrams, terminal and wiring plans to EU Standards.
  • Develop technical specifications, process flow diagrams and control system programming architecture.
  • Collaborate with Design and Applications engineers to provide drawings and specifications and deliver projects on time.
  • Program PLC and controls for industrial automation systems.
  • Coordinate suppliers as part of overall project control.
  • Assist with electrical fitting, wiring of panels and assembly of machine builds.
  • Conduct electrical testing procedures on new machine builds.
  • Support electrical problem‑solving during the manufacturing build process.
  • Integrate and commission new systems at customer sites within the UK and overseas.
  • Maintain, develop and support existing control systems at customer sites within the UK and overseas.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Minimum 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
  • Experience with electrical panel layout within electrical CAD software.
  • Machinery safety training and/or experience.
  • Understanding of electrical control gear, industrial automation and communication protocols (Profinet/Profibus, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, serial, OPC, IO‑link, etc.).
  • Logical problem‑solving approach.
  • Well organized, ability to meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Team‑work orientation.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level preferably in Electrical Engineering or related fields (2.1 or above).
  • Knowledge of robotics.
  • Clean and full UK driving licence.
