Responsibilities
- Design and specify control systems, safety and electrical components for industrial automation systems.
- Create electrical schematics and designs within AutoCAD Electrical including layout diagrams, terminal and wiring plans to EU Standards.
- Develop technical specifications, process flow diagrams and control system programming architecture.
- Collaborate with Design and Applications engineers to provide drawings and specifications and deliver projects on time.
- Program PLC and controls for industrial automation systems.
- Coordinate suppliers as part of overall project control.
- Assist with electrical fitting, wiring of panels and assembly of machine builds.
- Conduct electrical testing procedures on new machine builds.
- Support electrical problem‑solving during the manufacturing build process.
- Integrate and commission new systems at customer sites within the UK and overseas.
- Maintain, develop and support existing control systems at customer sites within the UK and overseas.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- Minimum 3+ years of industry experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
- Experience with electrical panel layout within electrical CAD software.
- Machinery safety training and/or experience.
- Understanding of electrical control gear, industrial automation and communication protocols (Profinet/Profibus, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, serial, OPC, IO‑link, etc.).
- Logical problem‑solving approach.
- Well organized, ability to meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Team‑work orientation.
Desirable
- Educated to degree level preferably in Electrical Engineering or related fields (2.1 or above).
- Knowledge of robotics.
- Clean and full UK driving licence.
