Job description Financial Reporting SO AccountantLocation: Newforge Lane Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week Pay Rate: £ per hourAbout the RoleWe are seeking a motivated and technically strong Staff Officer Accountant to join a busy Finance Branch within a public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to play a key role in delivering high-quality financial services, supporting governance, and contributing to strategic decision-making.The successful candidate will work closely with senior management, auditors, and operational stakeholders to ensure robust financial management and compliance with public sector accounting requirements.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will assist the Premises Officer with:Preparation of Annual Reports and Accounts in line with HM Treasury and Department of Finance guidance, incorporating IFRS standardsLiaising with internal and external auditors, including the Northern Ireland Audit OfficeAnalysis and interpretation of complex financial dataProduction of monthly and quarterly management accounts and financial performance reportsProviding professional advice and guidance on financial information, accounting standards, and best practiceDrafting, reviewing, and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controlsOversight and management of financial processing functionsLine management of staff and effective allocation of resourcesPromoting strong corporate governance and financial accountability across the organisationThis list is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned in line with business needs.Essential CriteriaHave successfully passed the final professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the professional bodies detailed below:(a) Chartered Accountants Ireland;(b) The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;(c) The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;(d) The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;(e) The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;(f) The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;(g) The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.AND Have one year’s experience gained in the last five years, in in one or more of the following areas:Financial planning and budgeting;ORFinancial Management / Management Accounting;ORFinancial Accounting/Auditing;ORDevelopment/ Implementation of Financial Systems;ORStrategic planning and decision support in a finance or regulatory environment….
