Consultant Psychiatrist – CMHT South

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, a CQC Outstanding rate organisation, is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Mental Health Team for the South of the county, based in Northampton.

We are offering a £40,000 welcome bonus to the successful candidate, paid over the course of your first two years in post.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will need to be a born leader and a people person who loves to collaborate and innovate. You need to be MRC psych or equivalent with full registration, licensed and specialist registered or within six months of obtaining your CCT on the date of the Advisory Appointment Committee. The ability to travel to all locations within the Trust is essential.

Job responsibilities

The trust is leading nationally on physical treatments in mental health, nurse administered ECT and ketamine infusion. We also have research collaboration with the Open University along with Nottingham, Oxford and Northampton University.

  • Involve in clinical research and access to Trust research fellows to develop research ideas.
  • Collaborate with the Open University, Nottingham, Oxford and Northampton University.

Person Specification

Qualifications/Registration

  • Full GMC Registration
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Additional higher medical/scientific qualification relevant to the specialty
  • GMC Specialist Registration or commitment to obtain via CESR application
  • S12 registered

Communication Skills

  • Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels
  • Ability to motivate and develop Junior Medical Staff and other MDT Members
  • To balance individual requirements against those of the Directorate and Trust as a whole

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a submission for Disclosure and Barring Service check to verify no previous criminal convictions.
