The opportunity

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a high performing and well established Modern Foreign Languages Faculty, working with committed colleagues and highly motivated students across French, German and Spanish. Applications will be considered for either full time working or 0.8FTE.

Role Summary

As Head of MFL, you will play a central role in shaping the strategic direction of languages across the school, leading curriculum development, driving high standards in teaching and learning, and ensuring excellent outcomes for students at all key stages.

Key Responsibilities for the role include

Work closely with Heads of Department and senior leaders to further develop a coherent and ambitious curriculum, support professional growth across the faculty and foster a collaborative culture rooted in high expectations and continual improvement. The role provides significant scope for leadership, innovation and influence, including opportunities to shape assessment practices, develop teaching expertise across the team and contribute to whole school priorities.

The successful candidate will

  • Good Honours Degree, PGCE / QTS
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the post
  • Ability to identify own professional development needs
  • Experience Successful teaching of MFL across all Key Stage
  • Planning of lessons / schemes of work in line with the demands of an examination syllabus
  • Evidence of raising student attainment in subject
  • Assessment of students across all Key Stages
  • Contribution to extra-centrec activities
