Senior Business Analyst – Procurement

Thames Water’s Procurement team plays a key role in delivering significant cost savings and driving commercial value across the business. The team manages approximately £1.5 billion in annual spend and supports a wide range of high‑value projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain, cleanse, and analyse large complex data sets to provide insights on historical spend and identify cost and operational efficiency opportunities.
  • Lead and support stakeholder project meetings, presenting findings to senior commercial and operational managers to drive decision making.
  • Analyse macro and micro supply‑chain trends and apply insights to commercial strategy.
  • Own commercial data – proactively cleanse historic and forecast data and ensure accurate availability through commercial tools.
  • Engage with stakeholders to elicit information, define scope of analysis and support internal and external meetings to explain data analysis.
  • Ensure time, cost and quality milestones are met and risk escalated proactively.
  • Identify further opportunities for the analyst team to support the commercial process and embrace new initiatives.

Location & Working Pattern

Hybrid – Clear Water Court, Reading; Monday to Friday 36‑hour week.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in a numerically focused discipline such as Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, Finance, or Economics.
  • Proven experience in a similar analytical or commercial role in a fast‑paced organisation.
  • Experience presenting business cases and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset, self‑starter, ability to work under pressure and across multiple priorities.
  • Advanced technical skills in Excel, VBA, Power BI, Power Query and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability, with experience in data modelling tools.
  • Good understanding of commercial business operations.
