Job Description
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and direction for the multi‑professional team in the management of acute medical patients. It is expected that they will lead ward rounds, direct the management of patients, perform practical procedures, teach junior medical staff and other team members, attend multidisciplinary meetings, take part in governance activities of the department, participate in the management and administration of the service, and liaise with other professionals both within and outside the Trust as required.
About the Service
Acute Medicine is an essential pillar of urgent care at UHBW. We have ambitious plans to grow the service at Weston General Hospital with the expansion of our Acute Medical Unit, Same Day Emergency Care Unit, and optimisation of clinical pathways. You will have a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of the service, joining an enthusiastic, collaborative multi‑disciplinary team committed to driving forward the Trust vision for Acute Medicine.
Our service comprises a 28‑bed Acute Medical Unit (Sandford Ward), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit, Waterside 16‑bed General Medicine and the Medical Take‑in Emergency Department. As part of the Weston General Hospital team, we work closely with colleagues in the Emergency Department, Care of the Elderly, Respiratory Medicine, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Surgical and Trauma & Orthopaedics specialities. We also collaborate with colleagues within Bristol hospitals and are open to reviewing cross‑site working arrangements.
