About the team and what we do

The Transformation Delivery team at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) drives large-scale operational and cultural changes across the organisation. They oversee the delivery of major strategies, such as upgrading technology, improving case management and regulatory efficiency, and addressing internal cultural issues.

Your role and impact

As Programme Manager, you’ll take ownership of a significant change programme from conception through to successful delivery and embedded operation. You’ll be the key catalyst behind transformational initiatives, leading cross‑functional teams to deliver policy, people, process and system changes that directly impact our regulatory effectiveness. Your leadership will ensure programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and achieve their intended benefits. You’ll be responsible for navigating complex stakeholder landscapes, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that change is seamlessly integrated into business‑as‑usual operations through collaborative approaches.

Salary Details

London – £72,135 to £80,150

Edinburgh – £67,087 to £74,541

Fixed‑term note

This is a fixed‑term position, set to end October 2027.

The role you are applying for is a flexible role, and while you will be posted initially to a team, this may require movement between teams as the flow of work dictates. This flexible approach enables us to provide the best possible service to our registrants and reach the outcomes to our cases quickly and within a reasonable timeframe, without changing your terms and conditions.

Hybrid Working Policy

We have a policy of office attendance for two days per week with the rest of the time working from home.

Our Pay Policy

New staff to the NMC will ordinarily be appointed to the bottom of the relevant pay band, with the possibility of a higher salary in exceptional circumstances. We offer an annual review of salaries and adopt a generous progressive pay approach.
