Overview
Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects (I&CP) team provides commercial and financial advice across infrastructure, energy, public services and private sectors, helping clients deliver key policy initiatives, infrastructure, technology transformation and major programmes. The Assistant Director role focuses on nuclear new build advisory services within the UK nuclear market, supporting investors, developers, governments and supply‑chain participants.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of the team’s nuclear advisory strategy and go‑to‑market plans.
- Build and maintain relationships with private equity, infrastructure funds, OEMs, utilities, developers and supply‑chain organisations.
- Originate and deliver advisory engagements across commercial structuring, supply‑chain development, financing, delivery strategy and project readiness.
- Contribute to sector thought leadership, market insights and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Lead and manage project workstreams covering commercial strategy, procurement, investment analysis and programme mobilisation.
- Support clients in decision‑making and provide strategic advice.
- Mentor junior team members and foster a high‑performing, inclusive team culture.
- Collaborate across Strategy, Risk, Transaction Advisory and Technology & Transformation service lines for integrated nuclear solutions.
- Engage in business development activities including proposal preparation, market research and partner support.
- Participate in recruitment, capability development and knowledge management initiatives.
- Promote Deloitte’s values of inclusion, collaboration and purpose‑led leadership in all activities.
Required Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in nuclear new build, SMR programmes, engineering, capital projects or complex infrastructure advisory.
- Proven commercial acumen in supply‑chain strategy, commercial structuring, contracting, investment cases, procurement or deal advisory.
- Familiarity with the UK and international nuclear ecosystem, including vendors, utilities, investors, regulators and major programme delivery partners.
- Experience supporting business development and client relationship management with a track record in project delivery and pipeline support.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to work with financial models and deliver high‑quality reports and presentations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, able to engage credibly with clients at all levels.
- Experience leading or managing project teams in complex, high‑stakes environments, preferably within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Exposure to leading nuclear technologies such as Rolls‑Royce SMR, GE‑Hitachi BWRX‑300, Westinghouse AP300, EPR, Holtec or NuScale.
- Understanding of UK nuclear regulatory frameworks, licensing pathways and GDA processes.
- International experience with newly built or reactor deployment programmes.
- Experience in manufacturing scale‑up, modularisation, cost reduction and industrial strategy.
- Experience in strategic organisation design, operating model development or business transformation programmes.
Location and Working Arrangement
Based in Manchester with a hybrid working model. Depending on the role’s requirements, you will work in the local office, virtual collaboration spaces, client sites and remotely.
