Job Overview
As an Assistant Director in the Infrastructure and Capital Projects team, you will lead the delivery of large‑scale, high‑profile advisory engagements for public‑sector clients. You will play a critical role in shaping market strategy, developing client relationships at the highest levels, and driving the growth of the business. Your role includes developing capabilities, mentoring staff and representing Deloitte in the market.
Responsibilities
- Leading and overseeing the delivery of complex advisory projects, providing strategic commercial, financial and funding advice to public‑sector clients.
- Acting as a senior advisor to clients, building and maintaining trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and influencing major commercial and financial decisions.
- Shaping and driving the sector strategy, identifying new business opportunities and leading go‑to‑market initiatives in collaboration with Directors and Partners.
- Overseeing the development of high‑quality proposals, thought leadership and market insights to support business growth.
- Providing senior leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring delivery excellence and developing the next generation of leaders.
- Representing Deloitte in the market through networking, speaking engagements and industry forums.
- Taking ownership of engagement risk, quality and commercial outcomes, ensuring compliance with Deloitte’s policies and regulatory requirements.
- Providing senior leadership to the Edinburgh team, collaborating with the lead Partner to lead the local office team and support local talent development.
Essential Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience in a commercial, procurement and/or commercial‑focused role within government, a private‑sector bidder or another advisory firm, working on PPP, project finance, outsourcing, franchising or similar service contracts.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with deep understanding of key sector issues.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to represent Deloitte at the highest levels.
- Proven ability to lead project teams, influence stakeholders, and drive consensus in multi‑party environments.
Desirable Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience working with financial models and designing complex financial analysis.
- A recognised procurement, accountancy or financial qualification (full or part‑qualified).
- Experience in business case development and report writing for complex projects across various sectors.
- Experience in strategic organisation design, operating model development or business transformation programmes.
Location & Working Arrangement
Based in Edinburgh or Manchester with a hybrid working model. You will work in your local office, virtual collaboration spaces, client sites and remotely as required. Specific working arrangements will be confirmed during the recruitment process.
