The University is recruiting Software Developers to support the development of services and systems for students and staff on campus and worldwide.We’re passionate about development at Cardiff Met and are looking for candidates who share our vision and can help create an outstanding student and staff experience.
Responsibilities
- Implement scalable, high‑quality, secure, and high‑performance in‑house applications through systems analysis, specifications, design, programming, testing, deployment, user training, and documentation.
- Collaborate with relevant users to ensure effective integration of applications, eliminating duplication of data entry where possible, using adopted integration standards and middleware.
- Provide user documentation, training, and training material for information systems.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of IT developments, software analysis, design, and programming tools; evaluate applications in higher education by undertaking training, attending workshops, and online seminars.
- Bring a positive, “can do” attitude to the role and assist the university in supporting and developing its digital estate.
What you’ll bring
With a good knowledge and practical experience of successful software application development using MS SQL and Microsoft.NET Core (ASP.NET, C#.NET and Restful API), you will work as part of an Agile development team, engaging with a variety of stakeholders across the University to develop systems and services that support staff and students.
You will also have excellent interpersonal and well‑developed communication skills.
- Good knowledge and competency in business analysis and design methodology.
- Thorough knowledge of RDBMS such as SQL Server and Oracle.
- Practical knowledge of web development including CSS, HTML, and HTTPS.
- Practical knowledge of secure programming techniques (e.g., OWASP) for the adopted programming languages.
- Ability to design technical solutions to meet strategic and business requirements.
- Motivation and the ability to establish timelines and prioritise competing work.
