About the Role
We are seeking a skilled PHP Developer to join a dynamic and expanding organization based in Leeds. This hybrid role offers an excellent opportunity for a developer passionate about backend development and modern software practices. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a solid background in PHP development, particularly with PHP 8 or higher, and experience working with the Symfony framework. Candidates should have hands‑on experience with relational databases like MySQL and ORM tools such as Doctrine. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and project management tools like Jira, are also important. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in agile teams, with a focus on writing clean, scalable, and well‑documented code. Knowledge of modern deployment practices and containerization technologies like Docker is a plus. Candidates with frontend exposure, understanding of microservices architecture, or experience with automated testing will have an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimise APIs and backend services to support platform functionalities.
- Write clean, scalable, and well‑documented PHP code adhering to best practices.
- Collaborate with frontend developers, QA teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery of features.
- Support and enhance existing systems by troubleshooting issues and implementing improvements.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes to maintain high‑quality code standards.
- Contribute to architectural and technical decision‑making to ensure the platform remains scalable, secure and efficient.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate new technologies and practices where appropriate.
