Overview

This is a pivotal role at the heart of the University’s governance and decision‑making, and a key member of our Executive Team.

As we continue to strengthen our institutional effectiveness and deliver against our strategic ambitions, the role of University Secretary is central to ensuring that our governance, legal and regulatory frameworks are robust, agile and aligned to the needs of a modern, forward‑looking university.

Responsibilities

  • Provide trusted guidance to the Chair of Council, Council members and the Vice‑Chancellor on governance, legal and regulatory matters.
  • Ensure the university’s constitutional and regulatory responsibilities are met, while contributing to wider leadership and strategic direction.
  • Maintain strong and effective relationships between the governing body and the executive.
  • Support effective governance, informed decision‑making and strong institutional accountability.
  • Act as a key member of the Executive Team, contributing to strategic ambition without constraining it.

Qualifications and Experience

Experience as an authoritative leader with deep expertise in governance, legal and regulatory matters, and the judgment and credibility to operate at the most senior levels of the institution.
