Senior DevOps Platform Engineer (Azure/GitHub)

A world leading investment manager are searching for a Senior DevOps engineer to join their team on a contract basis. You will support, improve, and modernise the DevOps Toolchain by delivering secure, auditable, and supportable capabilities that enable a wide range of users to deliver software safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve DevOps platform capabilities in direct partnership with developers, and control functions.
• Provide third-line support for CI/CD platforms, build agents, and self-hosted tooling.
• Represent operational, security, audit, and risk requirements as first-class design inputs.
• Drive automation, reliability, and continuous delivery practices.
• Facilitate consensus across communities with differing priorities, proposing pragmatic, risk-aware solutions.

The environment spans both Azure and AWS, with the majority of infrastructure currently hosted in Azure (roughly 50/50, but Azure-heavy). There is a strong focus on GitHub, as this is the strategic direction the organisation is moving toward.

They are essentially looking for a senior, hands‑on engineering leader with:

• Strong opinions on how modern DevOps tooling should operate
• Thought leadership in security, scalability, and platform engineering
• Ability to improve and mature the tooling environment
• Interested in someone thinking strategically about how AI can improve developer experience, particularly through:
  • Agentic coding
  • AI‑assisted workflows
  • Integration with GitHub and emerging GitHub agentic capabilities
